  • Condition: These rims have been cleaned of rust. There is some rust through the chrome in spots and some shiny chrome too. The hubs cleaned up pretty well. The spokes have some rust. I did not clean them. Some of the spokes are loose and will need tightening. No bad curb dents, The hubs are working but they should be repacked. They are a bit stiff from old grease and oil .These are not the nicest of wheels but could be used.

    Description

    This is a wheel set from a 1959 Schwinn Starlet.
    26" x 1 3/4" middleweight S-7.
    The rims are center stamped Schwinn Tubular S-7.
    This has an original Schwinn Approved Mark IV rear hub. I think it was made in Germany for Schwinn.
    The front hub is Schwinn Approved and says made in Germany.
    There must have been a shortage of hubs in 1959. This Mark IV was used in addition to the Bendix hubs. There was also a Schwinn Approved Austria 3 speed hub used in addition to the Sturmey Archer 3 speed in 1959. I received a Schwinn Corvette for Christmas in 1959. Mine came with the Austria 3 speed hub and a really cool Schwinn Approved tear drop 3 speed shifter.
    The original brake arm strap is included.
