    Description

Hello, you are about to learn of an opportunity to own a piece of early Computer History.
    (more pics upon request)
    Commodore PET 2001-8 Computer (Serial#: 0030399)
    PRINTER PET #2023 (Serial# 235511)
    + Xtra Datassette.
Chip on the chip board says 1977 and the serial number is early; #0030399.
First, I am not a computer expert, despite owning a C64 and learning to write Basic in college in ... 1985.
But, I am saving now for my own kid's college fund now and that's what this sale is all about, finding unique, valuable items and selling here on EBAY.
Hence your opportunity to own a piece of early computing history.
THE STORY (told by original owner): This gem was only in service for a couple of years for a business in the midwest. It was then put away, safely until recently discovered by me. It was NOT cheap for me to acquire, but I knew it was desirable and should be put into the hands of a collector. After all, it is sometimes called the first, real desktop computer.
Here's the scoop, what I know:
There are zero obvious issues that I see.
It powered on immediately, with clear screen prompts.
I tested the keys and all seemed fine, but two were a bit sticky (have not tried to fix anything)
The keyboard decals are in excellent shape
No visible damage of note. It will clean up even nicer, as I only lightly wiped it down, did not clean.
    Cables in good shape.
The Datassettes BOTH work when buttons tested without tape (FF, REW, Etc). This includes a separate Datassette (not shown, in EUC) and the built in.
The Printer (#2023) is UNtested, but I was told it works (after reading that these old machines can be delicate, I decided not to proceed as I did not know how to connect/test it properly and I chose not to turn on the 2100 again, as to avoid a blown fuse or something).  Printer still had paper in it.
The inside IS dusty, it was 40+ years in storage. I did NOT clean at all, merely lifted lid to photograph. To this untrained eye, it looks completely untouched from Factory, but YOU will surely know more than I.
I don't know if there is anything "programmed", I turned it on twice to test power, keyboard and to photograph.
There was no software or paperwork found with unit.
But, there is a GUC PET book included. "The PET Personal Computer for Beginners", 1981.
PLEASE NOTE: I have no reason to believe any of this equipment has "issues", but this item is being sold AS-IS, NO RETURNS.
SHIPPING: Due to the nature of this delicate machine, I will ask that The Buyer provide instructions on how to ship properly and safely. Included in this sale is a charge of 0 to ship, any costs above that are to be paid by Buyer. IF POSSIBLE, local pickup in DENVER area is safest and Free.
Please ask any questions prior to bidding, I'll do my best to be transparent and helpful.
    Thank you for your interest.
