Description
ITEM:3 vintage bicycle chain guards. They are 1). SEARS has a maroon paint with white stripes and wording. White paint is 90% missing. The mounting hole measurements from the front edge of the mounting clamp (where the screw goes thru the round clamp) to the center of the rear mounting hole is approximately 21 ¾ inches long; the total length of the guard is approximately 24 inches long. Guessing that came off of 1960's 26" bicycle. 2). STAR CHIEF blue and white painted chain guard with a red stripe. This has quite a few dents and creases on the top edge and the round bracket that attaches to the bike frame tube is broke in two. The mounting hole measurements from the front edge of the mounting clamp (where the bolt goes thru the round clamp) to the center of the rear mounting hole slot is approximately 18 1/2" inches long; the total length of the guard is approximately 25 5/8 inches long. I am guessing this came off of a 1950's 26 inch bicycle and I do not know the manufacturer. I think this is a hard chain guard to find. 3). Murray MONTEREY bicycle guard. This was originally a tan chain guard but someone masked out the MONTEREY name and gave it a custom hand painted graffiti style paint job. The mounting hole measurements from the front edge of the mounting clamp (where the screw goes thru the round clamp) to the center of the rear mounting hole slot is approximately 22 inches long; the total length of the guard is approximately 23 1/4 inches long. This either came off of a 1960's Murray balloon bicycle or a 1980's retro style Murray balloon bicycle. PLEASE SEE CONDITION.
CONDITION:
1). SEARS has faded maroon paint with the white stripes and SEARS lettering 90% missing. You can see where the white paint was as the maroon paint is not faded. Has 1 dent (not sharp) on the side of the chain guard just in front of the word SEARS and a couple of minor kinks on the top edge above the word SEARS. This has quite a bit of rust or rust pitting. Still is real solid and is real nice and straight and I do not see any major dents or kinks. There is a real noticeable scratch with rust in the white paint at the top of the "J". Leave as is or restore. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS for a better idea of the condition. 2). STAR CHIEF has paint scratches from pedal hitting chain guard. The front side of the chain guard has one noticeable kink but the top edge has several kinks and dents. The round bracket that attaches to the bike frame tube is broke in two. 3). MONTEREY is in good condition and I do not see any dents or kinks. This has a lot of paint on it from the graffiti. This either came off of a 1960's Murray balloon bicycle or a 1980's retro style Murray balloon bicycle. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS
