Description
A.W. Haydon Stop ClockOne
Stop Clock
aircraft instrument
as manufactured by
A.W. Haydon Company of Waterbury, Conn. USA
and built for the U.S. military effort, probably in the 1960s.
This unit is identified as such by a silk screened data tag in the instrument case.
Data plate further shows a
FSN
of
6645-515-6531
upon it and a
Contract No.
of
N383 (MIS) 68565 A.
I suspect that's a USN contract number.
Manufacturer's Part No.
is
AI5316. Serial No.
is
1469
This is a
3 1/8" panel mount
unit. Power information listed at 24 VDC for three functions... motor, clutch and reset. Instead of Cannon connector it has solder-type lugs. The schematic is listed on the data label, and that data label is perfect. I'm assuming this is 1960s or 1970s vintage, but do not see any dated inspection stamps or OH marks or dates upon it... just an inked inspector's stamp probably from factory..
Nice crisp and bright white face markings on face plate. Dual white needles indicating
SECONDS
and
V 100'S OF SECONDS.
. Nice bright markings. Great shape with no sun fading or dust or dirt or bugs behind the glass. Nice piece of warehouse stored aircraft instrumentation. I see no signs of modifications. Very clean. It is unusually heavy; 2 pounds or so of instrument. Maybe New Old Stock?
Un-tested by us. N
o other paperwork or pedigree documentation. Came to us in a warehouse inventory. It's a little dusty, but otherwise great. No drop damage or heavy dents to the case, and no scratches to the glass. Neat old technology.
Unit is metal cased. This one did not bake in an aircraft cockpit and is not sun faded. This one has keeper nuts for the instrument panel screw application. Again, there are no other pieces of paperwork or documentation with this instrument. We have no way to test it for you, so assume this is a really nice core or exceptional panel filler.
