Description
This listing is for an antique York 28” x 1 1/2” wood rim bicycle tire. There is a possible date code that reads P4. No patches. Moderate wear, see photos. This would fantastic for a display bike made from the 1890s to the 1920s. Definitely not a rideable tire. This item will be packaged very securely in a picture frame box.
I’m probably going to regret eliminating these tires because I have over 100 wood rimmed bikes – many with bad tires. The American Pickers showed the warehouse where I had over 200 tires (Season 19 Episode 9). I am moving the tires from that warehouse. The new location is still out of the sunlight but is a brighter room so the tires won’t be as well preserved. I’ve decided all of my tires will be put up for sale. Look at the description and photos. I will describe them as best I can as well as show any flaws I see. Most of these tires are American made. If it has a date code we research to see the date and where it was built. For you guys that want an 80 year old bike to ride I suggest you buy a reproduction tire to ride on. I have restored a handful of bicycles and some 1940’s Indian motorcycles and I used the reproduction tires for riding. It’s getting harder to find the original older tires that have been well preserved. These make fantastic display tires.
