    embellished mid-20th century
    with elaborate, detailed dresses
    bringing these fabulous original
    prints
    , hand colored (in the
    19th century)
    to 3 dimensional life!

    Print reads:
    La Mode Illustrée, Bureaux de Journal, 56 Rue Jacob Paris.
    Created by a masterful 1950s dressmaker, the
    elaborate, detailed dresses are made from
    silk satin, lace, tulle, glass beads, ribbons & embroidery trims to bring to 3-dimensional life the fashions of the mid-19th century haute couture.
    The standing figure to the left wears a blue dress complete with bustle, trimmed with lace. She holds a lace-trimmed parasol.
    The seated figure to the right wears a pink
    dress complete with bustle, trimmed with lace. She holds a lace-trimmed fan.
    Each print is matted with pale pink velvet and framed with carved gilt Italian moulding. The framing work was done in the 1970s and remains in excellent condition, including the secure hanging wiring already in place.
    The only thing to do after purchasing these extraordinary embellished prints is to hang them in a place where they can be admired & enjoyed by all who view them!
    Printed during the mid-1800s,
    La Mode Illustrée
    , was an important French fashion magazine for conveying up to the minute fashions of the period.  Distributed on a weekly basis, each issue featured a description of Victorian fashions & accessories through a series of hand-colored prints along with the text describing the fashions.
