    Description

    Original jumbo postcard for the Marine Terrace Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.
    The card measures 5½" x 8½" and includes views of the hotel, located "directly on the ocean, with large private beach... near Catholic and other Christian churches."
    The card was published by MWM, Aurora, Missouri and is identified as No. 9983, printed in MWM's "Color-Litho" process.
    This postcard was mailed to a recipient in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is postmarked July 26, 1948, Miami, Florida.
    Condition:
    It is in good, used condition, with a couple of closed tears at the edges and a faint crease in one corner. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
    There's printed text on the reverse side, including the hotel's address, 27th Street and Ocean, Miami Beach, and the name of the president and managing director, John B. Reid.
    The reference on the front, to the hotel's proximity to "Christian churches," suggests its preference for a gentile clientele, which was also evidently reflected in its other advertising — to the extent that the Miami Beach Lodge B'nai B'rith had filed a formal request with the City of Miami Beach to investigate the hotel's "discriminating advertisting" and "religious prejudice."
