    Description

This was a the head and badge from a vintage violet 1970 Schwinn Fair Lady sting ray bicycle that was in pretty bad shape, it was heavy rusted and not worth restoring. The serial number on the head dates it to June of 1970. This is truly a unique item.
I've made a few toothbrush or pencil holders along with bracelets and napkin rings using copper pipe & head badges, I decided to use the entire head from the bike and turn it into something new, it can be used as toothbrush holder or a bud vase.
After cutting it from the frame I hand hammered a flare on the end of a 1 inch piece of copper pipe, I then soldered a flat piece to the bottom making it water tight. The head was then placed over the copper, I then flared it at the top keeping it tight to the head.
The frame tube holes were filled with plaster of Paris, then covered in an epoxy and painted black, the entire holder was sprayed in a clear lacquer.
It weighs over a pound and can be cleaned anytime you need to, you know how the bottom of a toothbrush holder gets if you use it for that.
If you are looking for that unique 7th wedding anniversary gift this is made with copper.
