    Description

    This is an original USN or USMC Grumman F-8 Bearcat Aircraft Carrier Fighter aircraft fuel gauge. Built in 1945 the Bearcat was the fastest piston engine aircraft of its time at a top speed of 471 MPH. The Bearcat was designed to replace the F6F-5 Hellcat fighter. World War 2 ended before the Bearcat could get into combat. By the time of the Korean war the Bearcat was replaced by Jet fighters. This gauge is in excellent condition and appears to be used. It is 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 x 3 1/2 inches. It is marked 0-185 gallons. For many years the F-8 Bearcat has been raced at the Reno air races. One of the fasted piston aircraft is Rare Bear.
