You are looking at a very unique piece of Birmingham Alabama Mining Art. Melissa Jones created this work of art from the Vintage Sloss Furness Mining co. In Birmingham Alabama . The Slott Mines produced iron ore from the 1882 until 1960’s. the ore that these mines produced were essential to the products of iron at the Sloss Furnace making them and important element in the formation of the city’s Birmingham and Bessemer. They still have guided tours. The artist Melissa Jones took parts of the iron and created this piece. The water tower SLOSS is made of another material and displayed in a Master Cigar Box.
